Bead thief - chase sequence
Overall, I'm quite happy with the outcomes of this project. One thing that I wish I could develop is the sound in it, but unfortunately my computer started malfunctioning, so I left it with the music and some forest ambience. What I'm incredibly happy about though, is the fact that for the few weeks I could focus my research on lemurs and study them a little bit deeper. And animate them hopping. It was lovely.
Storyboard
If you look closer, some parts of the story board have different colour borders. These are alternative paths of the story, that I put down before I could decide on the ending. In the end I scratched both of them and jumped right to the ending (pun intended)
Animatic
For my animatic I used my story board and put it on a timeline along with the music that was in my head at the time. I found it very difficult to put down something with that tempo and felt the urge to jump into things too quickly. When I had the animatic done and started animating, I kept on exporting small files and putting them along with the animatic and the music to see if it works, then I tweaked them. I definitely think I need to practice story boarding and making animatics, to learn to present my ideas more clearly.
Concept art/design
I think this, apart from the actual animating bit, was my favorite part of the pipeline I took. I love the creative vomit of ideas in very rough, sketchy forms, where it's just research, research and research! It's the part of the process where you keep on discovering new things and constantly getting inspired.
Model sheets/turn arounds
Yeah, I'm just showing off. I really wanted to have a fancy turnaround gif, that's all :P
Backgrounds
Making the backgrounds was quite a struggle for me, as I find it difficult to make things polished and finished. Suddenly I had to use colour and depth and all the things I have no idea about and I think just the fear of them put me in a box. Thanks to that piece of enlightenment, my goal for the summer break is to focus on creating backgrounds, to explore different styles and aesthetics.
